Blood Baptism is a false Doctrine invented by Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon Church that teaches some sins are so serious that they can only be atoned by blood from “holy murder”.

 Most of the modern Mormon church has abandoned the doctrine of blood atonement, along with its promotion of theocracy, polygamy, communalism, "holy murder," and other teachings founded by Joseph Smith the Founder of Mormonism. 

This doctrine was practiced by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. They are accredited to the invention of this practice, which teaches that murdering is so bad, that the only way a murderer could pay for their sins was to be depleted themselves. Brigham Young was also the Governor of Utah during this time, making blood atonement a forcible punishment for crimes they deemed too severe.

Fun fact Brigham Young married one of Joseph Smith's wives Emma Beaman after his death, what a holy man of god you might ask. But this concept of blood Baptism is nowhere found in Scripture, in fact this is very demonic. According to 1 John 1:7, the Bible makes it clear that “ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” This makes it abundantly clear that Jesus’ blood and sacrifice alone saves us from our sins, not our own. Ephesians 2:8-9 also mentions, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” There is nothing we can do to earn our own salvation. There is also no sin so great that we can’t be forgiven by God. The whole issue with this doctrine is its roots, it stems from a works based Gospel taught by the Mormon church. But according to James 2:10, “For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.” So if Mormons have ever fallen guilty of any sin, they should all be appointed to blood atonement according to Joseph Smith and Birmingham Young. Because the Bible tells us very clearly that if you have committed any sin according to the law, then you are guilty of them all. This means if you have ever been angry, lied, lusted and so forth you are just as guilty as the murderer, prostitute, thief and we can go on. The point is none of us are righteous, as our WORKS ARE AS FILTHY RAGS. This is the whole point of Jesus, he came to be the ultimate atonement for our sins. Because under the law we are all unrighteous in the eyes of God, since we cannot justify ourselves. This whole doctrine of blood baptism is rooted in a works based Gospel and lack of belief in Jesus Christ as the Almighty God. This can be easily refuted with the Word of God. As we know Thomas calls Jesus “My Lord and My God”. and Jesus accepts the worship.

Jesus Divinity

We also see the Father God, referring to Jesus as God. Hebrews 1:8, states “But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.” This shows that Jesus was, and will forever be God and share that divinity with Jesus Christ. Furthermore, to say that certain sins are beyond forgiveness is completely heretical. We see amazing men and women of God who were forgiven, redeemed and transformed by Christ! Paul murdered hundreds, potentially thousands of Jews and Christians, Rahab was a prostitute, but they were all transformed, forgiven and redeemed. There is nowhere in scripture where we get this concept of blood baptism atonement. Furthermore according to Wikipedia, “The Mountain Meadows Massacre (September 7–11, 1857) was a series of attacks during the Utah War that resulted in the mass murder of at least 120 members of the Baker-Fancher emigrant wagon train. The massacre occurred in the southern Utah territory at Mountain Meadow, and was perpetrated by settlers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints(LDS Church) involved with the Utah Territorial Militia (officially called the Nauvoo Legion). This is historical evidence that blood atonement was practiced by the Mormon church. Many Mormon Scholars have come after saying this was just a “Conspiracy theory”, and there is no valid evidence to prove these claims. However when we look at Birmingham's texts, he completely contradicts modern scholarship in the Mormon Church. In Birmingham's Journal of Discourses, it states “I know, when you hear my brethren telling about cutting people off from the earth, that you consider it is strong doctrine; but it is to save them, not to destroy them.” This shows his intention is to save people through “blood atonement baptisms” which we have already shown is contradictory to Scriptures.

False Gospel foundation

But the root of the issue is their false gospel, which is why they try to justify themselves in the eyes of God through their own sacrifice and atonement. This false gospel was revealed unto Joseph Smith through an angel of light. According to the Mormon Church's official website, they believe that Joseph had a divine revelation from God through an angel. It claims, “In 1823 an angel named Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith and told him of the existence of an ancient record engraved on plates, buried in a hill near his home.

Angel Moroni is a fallen angel or just made up

Moroni, the last ancient record keeper to inscribe his teachings on the plates, appeared to Joseph on a number of occasions between 1823 and 1829, guiding and mentoring Joseph as he obtained the plates and translated them. Though others produced fanciful or sensationalized accounts of the angel’s visits, Joseph Smith’s own accounts are simple, sober, and consistent. Joseph’s preparation to become a prophet began with his First Vision, but his early followers typically spoke of Moroni’s visit as marking the beginning of Joseph’s calling.” Now there are plenty of issues with this revelation that is thought to have occurred with Joseph Smith. For starters, we never see mention of an angel by the name of Moroni in the Word of God. The Bible will often be misconstrued by the LDS Church to support the theory that Angel Moroni gave these golden tablets to Joseph Smith. However, the Bible warns us in Galatians 1:8-9, “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” It makes it abundantly clear that if any man or angel comes with another Gospel that they are to be cursed by God.

Joseph Smith was deceived

Joseph Smith taught a new and different Gospel than that which was taught all throughout History and the Word of God. Although Mormons are very close to the truth, and might even smell, sound, look or act Christian their gospel is different from that taught by Christ and his disciples. According to 2 Corinthians 11:13-15, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.” This isn't to say that all Mormons are intentionally deceiving people, but whether they realize it or not they are deceived with a false Gospel.

Satan pretends to be an "angel of light" to deceive the masses

Furthermore, this passage mentions how Satan masquerades himself as an angel of light. Since we know Satan was once Lucifer making him a fallen angel it makes sense. So was this really angel moroni, an angel we never see throughout the Bible speaking to Joseph Smith? Or was this a fallen angel being Satan himself masquerading himself as an angel of light? Well Mormonism has an odd number of similarities with other faiths that also claim to have divine revelation from angels and prophets. Just to name a few Islam, Jehovah Witnesses, Hebrew Israelites, 7th Day Adventists, and Modern day “Spirituality” all had their religions founded by “Prophets of God” and some sort of angelic revelation. The reason these religions don’t pass the smell test is because they all have a contradictory Gospel to the Word of God. They all know about Jesus, but they don’t know him personally. They have a miscued version of Jesus completely foreign to Scriptures. Although these different religions may seem close to the truth, they are far from it. They all either deny the eternal divinity of Jesus Christ or his ultimate Sacrifice on the cross alone being enough for our salvation. This is why Blood Baptism atonement is a heretical and satanic doctrine, But furthermore, even if modern day mormons don’t practice it the root of the issue is their false works based Gospel and belief in a non canonical scripture which isn’t approved by the Word of God. Reject Mormonism and Accept the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:10-13)
